The Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) recently announced that it is developing passenger assistance plans to prepare guests for summer trips.
Pearson, which is Canada's busiest airport and North America's most integrated airport, is preparing for its record-breaking travel season. In fact, the airport expects 10.7 million passengers between Canada Day and Labor Day weekend this year, an increase of more than 11 percent from the 2016 warm season.
"We look forward to breaking another record this summer when passengers will take advantage of Toronto Pearson's international service, service and connection," says Scott Collier, Vice President of Customer Service and Help Center, Parks Authority Flight to Greater Toronto.
"Toronto Pearson has named the largest airport in North America to serve over 40 million passengers and the International Airport Council for two consecutive years. So, how can passengers prepare?
Passengers traveling through Toronto Pearson are encouraged to visit the airport website before traveling.
The GTAA states that the digital public education program will run throughout the summer, and the Leave Guide provides step-by-step guidance and information on special offers.
The Canadian Aviation Safety Authority (CATSA) has developed a program for aviation travelers who want to know what can and cannot be taken by airlines. It also includes time pending security inspections at Canadian airports, including Pearson.
Passengers traveling internationally must download the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) program, which allows passengers to complete a customs declaration for up to five people traveling together, creating an invisible barcode that saves time in the customs hall.
If anyone needs help on the web, more than 600 airport staff can be deployed at all facilities for the care and support of clients, and the new St. ambulance dog.
Passengers are also encouraged to arrange their transportation to the airport, whether by taxi, limo, rail, rideshare or bus.
Passengers in need of special assistance are reminded to contact their aircraft at least 48 hours before departure.
There is also entertainment to look forward to.
The GTAA reports that YYZ Live is back for the third consecutive year, featuring free live music by local musicians, performed in stations 1 and 3 for passengers and the public.
Dinner should also take into account that the airport adds tons of dining options, and restaurants designed by celebrities such as Susur Lee, Lynn Crawford and Massimo Capra.
Toronto Pearson served more than 49.5 million passengers in 2019.
